《鹬》片长为6分钟，为皮克斯2016动画长片《海底总动员2》的前贴片，讲述了一只饥饿的小矶鹬（sandpiper，一种海鸟），努力克服恐水症，到海浪肆虐的沙滩上觅食的故事。这部短片由皮克斯新一代的动画人Alan Barillaro导演，创意筹备加上制作前前后后大约花了三年时间。。本片以三岛47年来持续面对的“某个事件”为基础，从自主电影制作开始。故事以北海道洞爷湖的中岛、东京伊豆群岛的八丈岛、大阪的堂岛为背景，围绕着重要角色“丽子”展开心灵的挣扎。以“乘船而去者”、“等待船来者”、“乘船而来者”及“方舟”为主题，描绘了三位心灵受创的角色，三个故事在此交错。当分别在不同“岛屿”上进行的故事因某个共同点交汇时，惊人的事实浮出水面。。The story concerns the Waterbury family who move to "Three Chimneys", a house near the railway after the father, who works at the Foreign office, is imprisoned as a result of being falsely accused of selling state secrets to the Russians.
