The film tells the story of the Jews of Bardejov in Slovakia, who were almost completely wiped out during the Holocaust. Among them was Holocaust survivor Emil A. Fish, who was 9 years old when a Gestapo officer found him and his family hiding and sent them to a concentration camp to suffer the same fate as their many friends and relatives. Fish survived but to this day no Jews...。Thomas因年幼时父母被暴徒杀害而心灵受创，他父亲生前的朋友Joe收养了他，视其如儿子般把他养大。有一天Joe突然神秘地提出要让Thomas去威尼斯他父亲生前的另一个朋友有黑手党背景的Nicola开的酒店（Hotel Laguna）学习经营管理。Nicola热情地接待了Thomas，但是Nicola美丽的妻子Thelma却对Thomas很冷淡。其实Thelma冷淡的外表下包含着对Thomas的怜爱，并且她和Thomas的感情迅速演变为给两人带来杀身之险的爱情。与此同时，Thomas也逐步揭开了当年他父母被害的真相，原来这一切都与Nicola有关···。男主Douglas P etersen（Tom Hollander 饰）突然被妻子Connie（Saskia Reeves 饰）告知，她不太肯定婚姻应否继续下去；不过在依然成行的欧洲家庭旅行中，Douglas决心要赢回妻子的爱，同时他还得修补与儿子Albie（Tom Tayl or 饰）之间的关系。 该剧根据David Nicholls同名小说改编。。
