6年前の6月17日、降りしきる雨の中、黒崎一護の母・真咲は、一護に覆いかぶさるようにして原因不明の死を遂げた。 真咲の命日、黒崎一家は真咲の墓参りに向かう。その日、一護は死神代行業を休むつもりでいたが、霊園では朽木ルキアが先回りをして一護のことを待ち構えていた。前日の夜、一護から母は「殺された」と聞かされたルキアは、真咲の死に虚が関与していた可能性を指摘するが、一護はルキアの言葉を打ち消してその場を走り去る。「俺が殺したも同然なんだよ」と自らを責める一護の前に、真咲の姿をした何者かが現れる。同じころ、墓参りをしていた遊子と夏梨が虚の襲撃に遭い、駆けつけたルキアが必死の抗戦を続けていた。。Here's a modern-day film noir in which you're never sure what's real and what isn't real.
