这一出浪漫喜剧的背景设定在1925年。主人公道奇为人成熟而狂妄，是个橄榄球好手。他希望能带领自己的球队从小球场转战到大运动场。但当赞助人拒绝继续提供赞助后，球队面临着解散的危险，于是道奇说服橄榄球明星卡特加入自己这支不起眼的球队，以求吸引更多人的目光。卡特是个浪子，长得英俊潇洒，而且速度极快，在一战中曾经独力迫使数个德国佬缴枪投降。在训练中，道奇和卡特都喜欢上了前来报道橄榄球赛的记者莱西，一场三角恋爱就此展开……。"Can't we all just live together?"
